Matthew Scholes has over 20 years’ experience in the education and sports industries and is considered a leader in innovative course design and developing experiential education programs

In addition to being the Centre Education Director, Matthew is also a Visiting Scholar in La Trobe University’s Research Centre for Sport and Social Impact (CSSI), a Performance & Wellbeing consultant for the Gymnastics Victoria’s High Performance program, a Life Member of the Victorian Commonwealth Games Association a member of the International Positive Psychology Association.

Matthew has presented at academic and sporting conferences across the world including the Oceania National Olympic Committees General Assembly in Fiji in 2015 and the International Positive Psychology Association World Congress’ (Los Angeles 2013, Orlando 2015, Montreal 2017, Melbourne 2019). He was also the Keynote speaker at the Practising Positive Education Conference (Sydney 2015) , the AIS NSW Heads of Sport Conference (Hunter Valley NSW 2016) and the WA Positive Education Conference (Perth 2016).

Previous roles Matthew has held include being the Secretary General of the Victorian Commonwealth Games Association, CEO of Athletics Victoria, Training Director of the 2007 FINA Swimming World Championships, Lecturer in Sports Management at Swinburne University, Program Co-ordinator of the Graduate Certificate in Sports Business at Holmesglen Institute, and President of Melbourne University’s Sports Association.
